 History and Arts Museum

 

 

 

  CHAPS, Inc. has started construction on the Cherokee County History and Arts Museum at the site of the historic mustering grounds and Central Elementary School at 301 College Drive in Gaffney.  Phase I, the history museum wing, is completed should open later this year.  CHAPS has recently hired The History Workshop, a division of Brockington and Associates, Inc. in Atlanta to complete exhibit design, research, and installation.  Phase II is now under construction.  Funds continue to be needed in order to complete Phases II and III, which include an art museum, working arts center, convention hall, gardens, and walking trails.

A thirteen foot high repoussé fountain, being designed by local metalsmith Abraham Duenas, will welcome visitors into the Cherokee County History and Arts Museum.  Recently, Duenas designed the iron gates at Cowpens National Battlefield.  Funds are now being collected to complete the structure.  Please help by making a donation to the fountain fund through CHAPS, Inc.
