 About CHAPS, Inc.

The Cherokee Historical and Preservation Society, Inc. was formed in 1969 by a group of citizens concerned about the rapid loss of Cherokee County's historical heritage to development and progress.  The group now consists of nearly two-hundred members and has taken great strides to educate the public about the significance of and protect the county's numerous historical sites.  The Society is pleased to announce the opening of the County's first History and Arts Museum at 301 College Drive in Gaffney, South Carolina.  An artifact-based, interactive facility that adds a new dimension to the area's already rich culture.  To join CHAPS, Inc., simply mail in the linked form or call 864-489-3988 to apply by phone.

A thirteen foot high repoussé fountain, being designed by local metalsmith Abraham Duenas, will welcome visitors into the Cherokee County History and Arts Museum.  Recently, Duenas designed the iron gates at Cowpens National Battlefield.  Funds are now being collected to complete the structure.  Please help by making a donation to the fountain fund through CHAPS, Inc.
